District Overview Kiewit Foundations Co. is a full‑service geotechnical foundation contractor operating across North America. We provide solutions for structural and ground improvement projects in transportation, power, water/wastewater, mining, building, industrial, oil, gas, and chemical markets. Our foundation business offers a wide range of services, including drilled shafts, micro piles, driven piles, auger cast‑in‑place piles, full displacement piles, soil mixing, excavation support, anchors, tie‑backs, stone columns, and other geotechnical solutions.
Location This role will require 3‑5 days of travel per week. Teams are relocated based on work availability and career goals.
Responsibilities
Managing the company environmental health and safety programs at the project and district level, driving a safety‑oriented approach to work.
Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project and district level; recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to chemical, physical, and biological hazards.
Routinely inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coaching employees on correct behaviors.
Developing environmental health and safety training materials, including manuals, brochures, and PowerPoint presentations.
Creating a paperwork management system to track training records and all safety training initiatives conducted personally or by outside consultants/vendors.
Interpreting safety regulations for the project.
Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements, including new‑hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, and repertory.
Interfacing with OSHA (provincial or federal) officials/inspectors during site visits.
Qualifications
Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Safety, or equivalent degree/work experience.
Strong work ethic; good interpersonal and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and collaborate within a team environment.
Proficiency with a standard laptop and common office software.
Ability to perform duties in varying work environments, including wide-ranging weather conditions and terrain.
Knowledge of construction safety, current federal and OSHA requirements preferred.
Certification as a Safety Professional or Emergency Medical Technician desirable.
Other Requirements
Regular, reliable attendance.
Work productively and meet deadlines.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Perform work safely and effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and policies.
Work normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines; overtime and weekend work may be required.
May work at various locations with varying conditions.
