Pay scale: $20.00 – $30.61 per hour (actual hiring rate depends on experience, education, responsibilities, location, and performance).
Responsibilities
Onboard and train new Medical Assistants and complete staff performance appraisals.
Direct daily workflows of MA Lead and MR Sr roles.
Develop junior level MA staff through instruction and knowledge sharing; serve as an escalation point for staff, patients, and physicians.
Assign Medical Assistants to work with specific physicians according to schedules and patient care needs.
Create and maintain the work schedule for medical assistants and provide coverage for TOWP/Sick calls. Manage time and labor administration of MA’s.
Escort patients from the lab to the exam room, the physician’s office, or the treatment room as appropriate.
Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes; obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician.
Verify presence of consent prior to treatment or procedures.
Collect data and obtain pertinent medical information for referral to the physician; direct patients to the next appropriate station.
Prepare and stock exam rooms, order supplies as needed, and maintain/ control drug samples. Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
Deliver patient education, including distribution of literature and follow‑up instructions; perform lab procedures and processing of lab specimens as needed.
File all labs and outside reports accurately; obtain blood specimens from peripheral sites per OSHA standards and universal precautions.
Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, including hormones and biological growth factors.
Maintain all exam room and chemo room disinfection protocols.
Answer incoming patient telephone calls for referral to nurse/pharmacist or physician; phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians or RN.
Obtain new patient records and previous test results, x‑rays, scans, etc.
Inform physician of patient reschedules and no‑shows; maintain physician scheduling templates and other miscellaneous appointments and meetings; assist physician with administrative and maintenance of files.
Maintain patient files and records as appropriate; assist in the supervision of Medical Assistants and other non‑licensed patient care providers as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent.
Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants required.
Minimum seven years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting.
Two (2) years previous Lead or Supervisory experience required.
Phlebotomy experience required.
Current CPR certification required.
Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
