Position Summary The Retail Store Manager is responsible for the overall success of the Luft Los Angeles Venice store, including maximizing sales, driving operational excellence, developing a high-performing team, and delivering a world‑class customer experience. The ideal candidate will possess the leadership and retail management acumen associated with major outdoor and lifestyle brands, bringing a strategic, people‑first approach to a dynamic specialty retail environment.

Key Responsibilities Store Operations & Sales Performance

Drive revenue growth and meet all sales targets by implementing effective retail strategies and managing key performance indicators (KPIs).

Oversee all daily store operations, ensuring efficiency in inventory management, visual merchandising, and compliance with company policies and procedures.

Manage store profitability, including controlling labor costs, managing loss prevention, and ensuring accurate cash handling and reporting.

Maintain the highest standards of store presentation, ensuring a clean, organized, and inviting environment that reflects the premium nature of the Luft brand.

Manage store maintenance and ensure all equipment (including bike service area tools) is in good working order.

Team Leadership & Development

Recruit, hire, train, and develop a passionate and knowledgeable team of sales associates and bike/run specialists.

Lead by example, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high‑energy work environment.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to ensure team members meet sales goals and deliver exceptional service.

Schedule and manage staff labor hours to meet business needs and budget requirements.

Customer Experience & Community Engagement

Ensure every customer receives a personalized, expert‑level experience that cultivates long‑term loyalty.

Act as a brand ambassador, representing Luft at local cycling and running events and organizing in‑store community activities.

Develop strong relationships with local clubs, groups, and businesses to enhance Luft's presence in the Venice and greater Los Angeles community.

Handle all customer issues professionally and efficiently to ensure complete satisfaction.

Merchandising & Inventory

Partner with the buying team to optimize product assortment based on local market trends and sales performance.

Execute compelling visual merchandising strategies that highlight key products and drive impulse purchases.

Oversee accurate receiving, processing, and display of all merchandise, including high‑value bikes and specialised running gear.

Qualifications

Minimum of 3 years of retail management experience, preferably with a major outdoor, apparel, or specialty brand.

Demonstrated ability to drive sales and profitability in a fast‑paced retail environment.

Proven leadership skills with experience in hiring, training, and managing a team of 5+ employees.

A strong passion for or expert knowledge of cycling, running, or both is highly desirable.

Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.

Proficiency in retail POS systems and inventory management software.

Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $80,000 – $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
