Objective Under the direct supervision of the VOM Supervisor, this position assists in the maintenance and repair of streets, stormwater infrastructure, public and private weed and tree cutting, and traffic management. This role is responsible for operating a variety of equipment for infrastructure maintenance related tasks.

Relationships Reports directly to the Operations Supervisor and indirectly to Operations Crew Leaders.

Essential Duties

Assisting with maintenance and repair activities, including traffic management (traffic signs, painting, detours & barricades), public and private weed and tree cutting, street maintenance and repair, public right-of-way maintenance, and storm water system maintenance and repair.

Safely operate City trucks, vehicles, and equipment on and off the public roadways.

Report to supervisor daily assignments completed, work activities, and records.

Report any incident, problem, or question to appropriate supervisor.

Follow all safety regulations, policies, and procedures; report all unsafe conditions and acts to supervisor; report all accidents to supervisor immediately whenever possible; follow recognized safe work practices.

All employees may be assigned by the City Manager or their designee to perform duties outside the scope of their work duties when the City Manager has declared a City disaster or the City Emergency Operations Center has been initiated.

Minimum Education and Prior Experience

18 years of age or older is required.

Valid state‑issued driver’s license at time of hire is required.

Exceptional communication skills, paired with a strong customer service background, and effective interpersonal skills.

Intermediate level of technical proficiency skills, including computer applications and software such as Microsoft Office.

Organizational and time management skills to prioritize duties and accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.

Collaboration skills to effectively work with others to achieve common goals through communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving.

Equipment, Instruments and Machines Pick‑up trucks, dump trucks (with valid CDL), multi‑function tractors, trailers, walk‑behind compactor, gas‑powered and manual post pounders, compressed air, walk‑behind painting equipment, lawn mowers, gas‑powered trimmer and blower, common hand and power tools, and cell phones.

Working Conditions and Physical Factors Regularly works in indoor and outdoor environments, may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme heat and cold, high winds, and wet/humid conditions. May be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dust, vibration, and other hazards. Exposure to traffic, heavy machinery, heights, confined spaces, and underground utilities may occur. Typical work hours are Monday–Friday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
