About the Role
On behalf of our client, a premier international trucking company, we are seeking a high-energy, resilient
Operations Manager
to lead their Laredo terminal located at
Killam Industrial Park . As the senior leader at this critical cross-border hub, you will oversee day-to-day operations in a manner that exceeds safety, service, and productivity goals.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Yard Oversight:
Effectively manage day-to-day inbound/outbound trailer operations and maintain a real-time yard view of loaded and empty trailer inventory.
Cross-Border Programming:
Program all inbound trailers for delivery to freight forwarders using local company drivers.
Driver Coordination:
Assist Logistics and Fleet Managers with coordinating long-haul drivers according to the assigned daily program.
Staff Development:
Supervise and support terminal personnel, ensuring a culture of respect and accountability.
Safety & Compliance Administration:
Coordinate driver alcohol and drug testing per safety department instructions. Notify and obtain documentation for fines, violations, corrective actions, and driver logs.
Incident Reporting:
Provide detailed email reports of any accidents or threats affecting CSA/DOT ratings and C-TPAT to the Maintenance and Safety Director.
Facility & Maintenance Management:
Ensure all facility maintenance meets company standards; report and track issues to ensure timely resolution.
Operational Backfill:
Perform any operational position, including forklift operation or terminal tasks, in the event of personnel absenteeism.
Performance Tracking:
Maintain and complete required performance monitoring and operational/quality reports as directed by management.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills
Experience:
8+ years of experience in a similar role within the logistics or trucking industry.
Organizational Mastery:
Strong organizational and communication skills to manage a terminal that operates at a high tempo.
Multitasking Ability:
Strong ability to multitask, handling emails, calls, and yard operations simultaneously.
Cross Functional Collaboration:
Comfort working with multiple groups within the business, including Maintenance, Safety, and Regional HQ.
Technical Proficiency:
Skilled in McLeod and Samsara software, as well as Microsoft Office.
Cross Border Expertise:
Experience managing transloads and the unique logistics of the Laredo/Mexico freight corridor.
Resilience:
Ability to handle a high-volume workload, including after-hours emergency calls and potential weekend on-call duties.
Physical Adaptability:
Comfort working in non-climate-controlled areas like trailer yards and warehouses for several hours.
