In-Yard Material Coordinator (Job ID: 1164)
bPurpose:
Colonna's Shipyard seeks an In-Yard Material Coordinator who will perform manual duties related to shipping, receiving, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies, including final material disposition and inter-facility material movements. This full-time, onsite position may require occasional flexibility in working hours and hours beyond a standard workweek to accommodate business needs.
bJob Description:
Validates tag information against visual inspection of material and determines correct transportation method for material throughout yard.
Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and corresponds with ship’s superintendent to rectify.
Coordinates transportation of materials, including totes, blocking wood, barrels, and paint cans to various berms for disposal.
Identifies and coordinates transportation of shop materials and tools to and from job sites, including gangways, lines, leads, welding machines, service equipment.
Capable of operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
Transport and dump trash tubs, steel tubs, and scrap tubs throughout the yard into appropriate bins for final disposition.
Oversee and maintain yard laydown area.
Maintain and coordinate transportation as requested by Down River Trade Coordinator for offsite projects.
Log and report on daily material movement as requested by trade leadership and/or program team.
bQualifications:
Must have a HS Diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of related experience.
Position may require the obtainment of certifications such as a Man Aloft Certification, Shipyard Competent Person Certification or CPR Certification.
May require ability to obtain and maintain appropriate level of security clearance depending on the contract.
Must be willing to work 2nd and 3rd shifts and overtime as needed.
Must be able to work effectively with others.
Must be a steady, reliable worker with regular, reliable attendance.
Must be able to travel as required.
bPreferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an industrial, shipyard, engineering, or construction environment preferred.
bSecurity Requirements:
Must be able to obtain and maintain access to government installations (DBIDS).
Must be a U.S. Citizen.>
bTravel Requirements:
Minimal travel; 10% or less.
bPhysical Requirements:
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
Must be physically agile to perform tasks in naval ships. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
While performing the duties of this job, you may frequently be required to stand, walk and sit; use hands or fingers; handle or feel; talk and hear. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb and balance, stoop, squat, kneel, twist and crawl.
Able to sit and work on a computer for long periods of time.
Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
