Responsibilities

Serve as a specialist in the Program Support Unit (PSU) performing moderately complex tasks related to managed care LTSS (Long Term Services and Supports).

Work involves frequent contact with case managers in CCSE, individuals enrolled in or applying for 1915(c) waiver services, service providers, LTSS MCOs, relocation specialists, nursing facility staff, the public, and HHSC staff.

Operate a computer and apply extensive knowledge of CCSE/PSU programs and software.

Assist with case management activities, including helping people select an MCO, approving/denying eligibility for Medicaid 1115 waiver programs, guiding transitions from nursing facilities to the community, and entering/validating waiver eligibility records.

Notify members of Medicaid 1115 Waiver eligibility; manage fair hearing requests for 1115 Waiver denials; coordinate transitions; monitor aging-out processes for MDCP.

Attend regular work with predictable scheduling and perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Medicaid 1115 waiver programs, policies, and procedures; familiarity with CCSE/PSU program areas.

Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences; ability to explain instructions and negotiate services.

Proficient in computer use and software (Outlook, Excel, Word) and able to learn state software (TIERS, SAS, CSIL).

Ability to manage stress, multi-task under pressure, and prioritize workload to meet program timeframes.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:

Preferred experience with STAR+PLUS HCBS, MDCP, LTSS, and/or MEPD services; preferred experience with Outlook, Word, Excel, TIERS, SAS.
