Engineering Technician IV (Surge / Part‑Time, On‑Call) with Security Clearance

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA‑TECH) is a progressive Department of Defense contractor specializing in range operations and maintenance, weapons testing, and a growing cybersecurity business.
Responsibilities
Provide support of test events on military ranges, following military protocol and standard operating procedures during FTX events.
Apply technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and computer skills in support of operations and routine maintenance on EW & Radar systems and their peripheral equipment.
Set up EW & Radar systems at remote locations, operate the systems during test missions, and dismantle them after testing.
Cross‑utilize into other positions within the scope of work as needed.
Work independently on non‑standard or customized tasks, selecting or adapting procedures and equipment, and receive instructions from supervisor or engineer.
Perform work in outdoor, dynamic, fast‑paced military test events; must be comfortable working in varying temperatures and all weather.
Meet physical requirements: 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, 5% lifting, 10% crouching in tight spaces; lift 50‑100 lbs independently or with assistance.
Work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as called in, sometimes on short notice.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for assigned tasks.
Operate in combat‑simulation environments; tolerate loud noises from weapons, live fire, and vehicle operation.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
10+ years of electrical and mechanical system maintenance and repair experience.
5+ years in a maintenance supervisor/lead/maintenance planning role.
3+ years of RF maintenance and repair experience.
Radar operation experience.
Knowledge of network and computer operations & maintenance.
Experience at a government facility (helpful, not required).
Ability to obtain a forklift operator license.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Internet Explorer).
Ability to input data into user interface applications and transfer data via USB, CD, or other media.
Skilled with hand tools and diagnostic equipment (digital multimeter, power meter, drill, wrench, screwdriver).
Prior work as a technician in mechanics, electrician, communication system repairman, or hydraulic/pneumatic system repairman is a plus.
Current driver’s license; vehicle insurance coverage through company policy required.
U.S. citizenship required; must obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance prior to start date.
Pass background screening (SSN, driver record, criminal background).
Work Conditions
Primary work outdoors on the range; varying temperatures and weather conditions.
Long on‑call shifts (12 consecutive days during unit rotations; 9–10 rotations per year).
Frequent overtime and 1500 hours per year, often with short notice.
