We’re looking for an entry-level sterile processing technician to support our hospital and affiliated facilities. This position is part‑time, with rotating shifts and variable hours depending on patient needs.
Employment Type Part time.
Shift Rotating Shift. Variable shifts and hours.
Position Purpose Provides hospital and affiliated facilities with processed materials and equipment by executing established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization. Maintains efficient flow of processing procedures through appropriate case set‑up and anticipation of health care provider requests and patient care needs.
Responsibilities
Properly identify and decontaminate instruments using washer/decontaminator equipment and hand‑washing techniques.
Assemble instruments correctly, ensuring appropriate cleanliness and function.
Prepare instruments for sterilization through proper packaging, rigid container system, and wrapping techniques.
Sterilize instruments by correctly loading carts and operating sterilizers (steam sterilizer and gas plasma).
Handle sterilized instruments for storage and distribution.
Maintain efficient flow of processing procedures, setting up case carts and anticipating supply needs using surgery lists, the Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) computer system, and inventory levels.
Prioritize instrument and supply needs based on surgery lists, SPM system, and inventory levels.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification in Central Service Processing required within eighteen (18) months of hire.
One year of general work experience.
