Job Description The production line mechanic will be responsible for all production maintenance, including product quality control, line maintenance, and repair of line machinery and equipment. This role involves applying mechanical expertise in determining work methods and procedures for producing quality product.

Responsibilities

Follows all work instructions and safety policies, including use of all PPE and safety equipment.

Performs routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery.

Repairs basic mechanical components and replaces parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges, and switches.

Observes and listens to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of problems.

Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.

Lubricates and cleans machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards within the plant.

Accomplishes all work orders to maintain safety, reduce downtime, decrease scrap, improve quality production, and improve plant efficiency.

Follows all safety rules and procedures including Lockout/Tagout program, housekeeping, and observes operations to ensure a safe work environment.

Troubleshoots equipment failures to determine root cause and initiates appropriate remedial action.

Repairs equipment to improve availability and reliability for production.

Collects and analyzes work delay codes to identify challenges to timely completion of scheduled jobs and works with available resources to reduce delays.

Ensures preventative maintenance compliance and that repair history is properly documented.

Assists in sourcing and requisitioning maintenance supplies, equipment, and services within budgeted guidelines.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Three to five years of work experience in a manufacturing plant as a Maintenance Mechanic or Technician.

Knowledge and experience working with high‑speed equipment and electrical‑pneumatic controls.

Able to use a MIG welder and an ARC welder.

Able to order parts and maintain inventory of all maintenance‑related material.

Advanced working knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems and components, including pneumatic, hydraulic, pumps, gearboxes, power transmission, material handling, sensors, transmitters, DC and AC circuits, transformers, power and energy, and arc flash.

Working knowledge and experience with automation, industrial process and control systems, PLC, measuring devices, instrumentation, robotic applications, and bulk handling systems.

Working knowledge and experience with facility maintenance (roof, dock, plumbing) and plant equipment (boiler, air compressors, ammonia/freon/glycol refrigeration, HVAC, ventilation, cooling tower, condenser, backflow preventer, sprinkler and fire extinguisher, wastewater system …).

Planning, scheduling, and assigning ability while experienced in defining priorities, required skills, and resources.

Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Multitasks in a fast‑paced environment with frequent changes in direction based on business requirements.

Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills; able to work collaboratively and effectively with other departments.
