Responsibilities
Journey Lineworker responsibilities include building and maintaining electric power systems and restoring service for customers; test, frame and set poles; climb poles; work in confined spaces; splice and terminate cables.
Perform tasks such as setting poles, testing and framing; installing cross-arms; substations switching; installing and replacing switches, meters, and streetlights; hanging and energizing transformers; taking voltage readings; troubleshooting overhead and underground lines.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions; drive safely; may travel/transfer to a new headquarters; wear company-provided PPE.
Provide on-the-job training and assistance to apprentice lineworkers; act as a leader when needed.
Compliance Inspector responsibilities include visual inspections of overhead and underground facilities, driving to inspection routes, performing diagnostics, and documenting findings; conduct repairs as needed.
Maintain records and perform detailed paperwork documenting site locations, findings, and estimates; use GPS and digital cameras to document conditions.
Qualifications
Minimum:
Completion of a federal or state sanctioned lineworker apprenticeship with documentation and/or union-affiliated lineworker apprenticeship; must be at least 18 years old; high school diploma, GED or equivalent; valid California Class A driving permit by first day of employment; pass California DMV medical exam by first day of employment; PPE; ability to lift up to 100 pounds; ability to work in all weather and road conditions; extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays; ability to travel and transfer territory; provisional training if hired as Provisional.
Desired:
2 years of Journey Lineworker experience if an outside line apprenticeship was completed; completion of Lineworker apprenticeship from a utility; utility journey lineworker experience; experience with rubber gloving and hot stick procedures; experience in transmission and distribution work (underground and multiple voltages); effective teamwork and communication skills.

Note: PG&E is providing the hourly rate at the time of posting. Wage rates are subject to collective bargaining. The starting wage rate for this position is $73.78 per hour, locality-based and influenced by factors such as skills, licenses, experience, and agreements.
