Position Overview In this role, you will support asphalt production from data entry and report management to coordinating all aspects of asphalt manufacturing. You will play an integral part as we reinvent the way our world is built.
Ideal candidates are proficient with computer software, strong in customer service and coordination, enjoy working outdoors, and are comfortable operating equipment to ensure high‑quality product.
Wage $31.40+ per hour, DOE.
Location Salem, OR
Key Responsibilities
Verify specified asphalt mix and enter correct mix design into computer. Monitor gauges, dials, and operation of machinery to ensure conformance to processing specifications.
Communicate and receive directions from dispatch, drivers, operators, and customers via radio or phone.
Plan and coordinate daily/job orders, order scheduling, raw material inventory, and ordering, plant maintenance, etc.
Maintain accurate time and materials records with high attention to detail.
Occasionally operate equipment to support daily hot‑plant activities.
Perform maintenance activities including welding, torching, machine lubrication, and plant‑specific component maintenance.
Participate in creating a safe work environment, achieve safety goals, implement company safety programs, and comply with OSHA/MSHA/Company standards.
Maintain positive professional relationships with all customers and employees.
Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Regular and timely attendance.
Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.
Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Minimum Qualifications
Proficient using a computer to manage and coordinate operations.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Ability to create and keep deadlines, make informed decisions, and strategically plan with attention to detail.
Must pass pre‑employment physical exam and pre‑employment controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of asphalt operation/maintenance experience highly preferred.
Maintenance experience using hand tools highly preferred.
Experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
Work Requirements
Safety‑minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance, and punctuality.
Willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Work Environment The work environment is outdoors with exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and extreme weather. Noise is moderate to loud.
