Job Summary The Dozer Operator will operate the tractor and blade to level the soil, move rock and debris to other locations on the job site, and scoop out the soil. The job will start mid‑January, and it is required to complete an OSHA 10 certification before your start date. Zachry Construction will coordinate and pay for you to get this certification if you do not already have one. Hires will be required to work six days a week and wear a long sleeve shirt and steel toe boots while working on this project. Only local candidates will be considered.
Essential Functions
Equipment operation under the direction of the supervisor
Follow all required company and general safety rules, policies, and guidelines
Limit the soil, move rock and debris to other locations on the job site, and scoop out soil
Perform excavation of lime, flex base, and general sub‑grade operations
Recognize hazardous conditions and report to the supervisor
Work days, nights, and weekends as required
Communicate with others using verbal and non‑verbal hand signals while operating equipment
Perform other construction‑related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Required Skills & Experience
OSHA 10 certification is required before a start date; coordinated and paid for by Zachry Construction
Wearing a long sleeve shirt and steel toe boots while working
Ability to work 6 days a week
3+ years’ dozer experience on heavy highway road construction projects
Previous experience with grade control systems preferred
Knowledge of finishing roadways
Physical ability to perform assigned labor‑related tasks (climbing ladders, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, etc.)
Physical ability to work in various conditions with exposure to weather elements
Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools (hammers, sledgehammers, pry bars, screwdrivers, etc.)
Provide own hand tools, hammer, pouch, level, 8" crescent wrench, tape measure, etc., a plus
Knowledge of how to properly read and understand construction plans, sketches, and blueprints
Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends as needed
