Unit Secretary, Clinical Specialty Admin Support
Full time, 72 hours per pay period, night shift - every other weekend, 12‑hour shifts 7 pm‑7 am.

Position Summary Provide clerical and secretarial services to the nursing unit assigned.
Responsibilities
Carries out the secretarial and clerical duties necessary for efficient functioning of the nursing unit assigned.
Communicates patient requests promptly to the nursing staff.
Orders and charges for supplies and equipment.
Schedules procedures and examinations with appropriate departments.
Notifies consults when ordered (physicians, classes, etc.).
Maintains the patient record and efficiently operates the computer system.
Processes patient classification data either manually or via computer.
Other duties as assigned.
Must provide safe, efficient, and competent care. Must demonstrate competency in unit‑specific functions described in performance continuum or standards.
Education / Knowledge / Skills Successful completion of a unit secretary course is required.
Must be able to read with comprehension and write legibly.
Must be proficient in use of proper grammar.
Qualifications
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
Knowledge of infection control.
Knowledge of fire and safety regulations.
Experience Secretarial or clerical experience is desired. Previous hospital experience is desired.
Licensure / Certification Certification in basic life support (CPR) may be required when the unit secretary works in a department where they may be first responder to a cardiopulmonary arrest victim.
