Job Description
Minimum Special Hiring Rate: $34,070
Under general supervision, performs complex tasks involving interpretation and application of policies and practices. Interprets office procedures, rules, and regulations. May function as a lead worker for clerical positions. Provides clerical support to the director or upper management staff. Trains new employees in proper work methods and procedures. Plans, organizes, and checks the work of lower-level clerical employees. Position receives and analyzes interstate compact transfer documents for accuracy and initiates the corrections of errors. Assists supervisor in processing ICOTS reports daily. Assigns transfer documents to parole officers for investigation and timely completion. Operates the NCIC terminal to enter, modify, and cancel wanted persons and conduct criminal background checks for parolees and prospective employees. Prepares and distributes parole papers and discharges for out‑of‑state parolees. Operates a personal computer, copy machines, facsimile machines, scanners, etc. answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and complaints. Provides callers with information regarding services and procedures. Maintains, sorts and files documents. The work performed must meet mandated time frames established under law and policy. Performs other duties as assigned. This position requires one 12‑hour shift per week in security.

In accordance with SPB 3088 effective 10/7/23, $5000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility. Critical Vacancy Pay Facilities: Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail, Mount Olive Correctional Complex and Jail, Western Regional Jail and Corrections Facility, Northern Correctional Facility (including Ohio County Correctional Center), Northern Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center, Vicki Douglas Juvenile Center, Potomac Highlands Regional Jail and Correctional Facility, and Eastern Regional Jail and Corrections Facility (including Martinsburg Correctional Center).
Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.
If an employee is hired into a Critical Vacancy Pay Facility (CVPF) and leaves the facility, the additional pay differential of $5,000 shall be removed from their salary, unless transferring to another CVPF.
