Job Summary
Patrols all areas of the City by foot, bicycle, and other vehicles to provide general security services, perform facility inspections, enforce park rules and city ordinances, and respond to community needs. Duties include crowd and traffic control, reviewing permits, monitoring facilities, issuing notices of violation, writing minor non-custody reports, and appearing in court as needed. Operates radio equipment and provides information and assistance to the public and local merchants. Responds to medical aid calls as a first responder. Performs related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
Knowledge : General security practices, patrol procedures, resource and referral information, effective customer service techniques. Ability : Learn regulations and policies; interact with the public and City staff; learn City attractions; make and record accurate observations; monitor radio equipment; use good judgment; work independently; establish cooperative relations; provide customer service. Skill : Reading, writing, and communication; computer use; handle diverse populations; prioritize calls; determine when to escalate; bicycle operation and motor vehicle operation; perform basic math. Education, Training and Experience
High school graduation or equivalent; one year of recent paid related work experience involving heavy public contact. Licenses and Certificates
Valid Class C driver license; POST-approved Bicycle Patrol course (within six months of hire) for non-sworn employees; standard first aid, CPR, and POST Penal Code 832 certificates within twelve months of hire. How to Apply
