Social Worker LSW PD Brown University Health

REPORTING TO: Social Work Manager. The Social Worker LSW evaluates, diagnoses and treats a wide range of psychosocial problems, applying individual clinical social work skills to assist patients and families in resolving personal and environmental problems that prevent them from achieving their highest level of psychosocial functioning.

Engaged in the co-management model with unit leadership in support of patient flow initiatives. Adheres to NASW Code of Ethics. Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial evaluations, document social work activity in medical records.

Develop treatment plans, initiate individual and group interventions; analyze course and results.

Provide consultation to medical and support staff; coordinate care planning and increasing compliance.

Participate in collaborative care rounds; provide education to patients/families on medical and social work recommendations.

Advocate for patient/family needs; coordinate appropriate advocacy activities within hospital and community.

Supervise field placement, evaluate BSW/MSW candidates; maintain professional expertise through continuing education.

Maintain compliance with Brown University Health policies, legal regulations, and Joint Commission standards.

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited graduate school.

Current license from State of RI; minimum LCSW required; LICSW mandatory if eligible.

Between six months and one year of clinical experience in health/mental health setting; emphasis on populations to be served.

Demonstrated knowledge of aging processes, human development stages, cultural patterns; analytical and therapeutic skills to evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, initiate therapy, evaluate results.

Effective interaction with patients, families, medical staff, outside agencies.

Work Environment Normal office environment with exposure to patient care.

Compensation Pay Range: $29.53 - $48.72 (Per Diem)
