Quality Inspector
– Ingalls Shipbuilding, Pascagoula, MS US Citizenship Required: Yes
Job Summary We’re building tomorrow’s fleet today. HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding Division is the largest manufacturing employer in Mississippi, with a history of designing, building, and maintaining amphibious ships, destroyers, and cutters for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard.
Responsibilities
Inspect visuals of in‑process and completed products, including electronic units, subsystems, electromechanical assemblies, and mechanical units.
Identify structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds using predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications.
Operate measuring devices such as dial indicators, micrometers, and fixtures to assess compliance.
Accept, reject, or rework defective units or systems per customer specifications and inspection instructions.
Use blueprints, diagrams, drawing instructions, and checklists to verify quality.
Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control or other procedures.
Perform line clearances after each lot to ensure removal of all materials from the previous lot.
Must Have
High School diploma or equivalent plus 5 years of additional education and/or related experience; or an Associate’s Degree and 1 year of related experience.
NBPI or NACE 1 qualification (required).
Quality Inspection Coatings experience in a marine/shipyard environment.
Ability to inspect in confined spaces, at extreme heights, stooping, crawling, bending, and climb ladders and stairs as needed.
Proficiency reading blueprints.
