Yard Material Handler

This position is responsible for performing day-to-day yard operations of shipping, receiving, customer service, product loading, and inventory control. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Work with dispatcher and sales counter to process, prepare, and load sales items, including bulk aggregates, for walk-in customers, contractors, and/or dealers.

Unload incoming freight and inspect merchandise for shortages or damages, match PO numbers with orders, and process attached paperwork.

Stock freight in the warehouse or yard as needed.

Operate equipment including forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck, and front-end loaders.

Keep inventory stocked in designated areas to facilitate accurate and efficient inventory counts and allow for storage of daily production.

Maintain the yard in a clean and orderly manner.

Ensure SDS forms are maintained and up to date for accurate information and immediate review.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Previous experience in a construction and/or construction products related field operating construction machinery or equipment including forklift, pallet loaders, lift truck and a front-end loader; or

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Valid driver’s license. Must be insurable.

Must complete and pass a forklift certification program within six months of employment.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to lift/move up to 75 pounds.

Must be able to climb in/out of applicable heavy equipment and vehicles.
