Surgery Scheduler Neurosciences Glendale Banner Health is seeking a dedicated Surgery Scheduler to join our high-volume Neuroscience Clinic in Glendale, AZ. As a key member of our team, you will schedule surgical, cardiovascular, and obstetrical procedures, manage patient charges, and maintain comprehensive scheduling information.

Position Summary This position is responsible for scheduling surgical, cardiovascular, or obstetrical procedures using a computerized scheduling system, entering patient charges and orders, compiling and reporting statistical information to management, and acting as an office liaison for department staff, physicians, and patient families.

Core Functions

Coordinate case times for elective, urgent, or emergent surgeries, cardiovascular or obstetrical procedures; verify physician privilege status before scheduling.

Acquire authorization numbers, History and Physicals, laboratory results, and confirm they are current; order previous medical records as needed.

Type and print physician orders; schedule and maintain physician block time; release block time as necessary.

Enter physician lab, blood bank, medical imaging, and cardiology orders; record diagnostic test results, patient registration information, and patient charges; compile data and prepare statistical reports for management.

Conduct charge management audits; reconcile charge packet information; identify missed or incorrect charges and make corrections.

Act as a receptionist: answer phones, greet patients, visitors, physicians and families; relay patient data, screen requests for information, and record and type minutes of staff meetings.

Enter facility work orders and supply orders, request repairs, arrange pickup and delivery of instruments and equipment, and complete all necessary paperwork.

Maintain a smooth workflow in the area with minimal supervision, set priorities, and manage confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma/GED or equivalent knowledge; 2 years of medical clerical experience, preferably in a hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling setting; knowledge of medical terminology; knowledge of payer contract terms and processes; excellent organizational, human relations, and communication skills; teamworking abilities; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet software, and computerized scheduling systems; ability to maintain accurate statistical records and produce reports.

Preferred Qualifications Additional related education and/or experience.
