Position Description The Howard School is seeking a creative and organized individual to join its Marketing and Communications team. Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications, this individual provides general marketing and communications support with a focus on electronic and print communications. This includes the development of print, electronic and social communications.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

Partner with the Director of Marketing & Communications and other key stakeholders to implement the marketing and communications strategy aimed at cultivating strong consistent brand awareness and ensure all constituencies are regularly informed about school programs, news, and events through effective communication.

Plan, research, interview, write, design, produce, and manage all online and offline marketing tasks necessary in collaboration with the Director. This includes The Howard School website, social media accounts, profiles on school review websites, digital advertising campaigns, and e-news communications, both routine and emergency, in alignment with the School’s overall marketing strategy.

Create and curate a dynamic social media presence by producing a variety of content such as student and teacher interviews, photo carousels from school events, promotional videos for open houses, parent and student events, and visually engaging graphics.

Design and manage multi-channel marketing campaigns utilizing social media, email marketing, direct mail initiatives, and the creation and distribution of promotional flyers

Collaborate, write, edit, and produce the School’s weekly parent newsletter, The Weekly.

Collaborate and assist with the writing, editing and production of the School’s printed collateral including the Annual Report, the School’s yearly magazine, and other printed marketing materials for Admissions, and other departments.

Manage and maintain the school website by ensuring all dates are current and consistent, content and design is accurate and aligned with each department, and images are regularly updated; create and remove pages as needed

Project manage photographers and videographers at least twice per year, including coordinating campus access, developing detailed schedules for classroom visits and interviews, and serving as the primary liaison between vendors and school staff.

Maintain and organize photo archives for use by Advancement, Marketing and Communications, and Admissions.

Review and analyze website and social media performance metrics using tools such as Google Analytics, UTMs, and CRM management to evaluate content effectiveness and make data-informed adjustments

Contact vendors to source marketing materials such as flyers, banners, yard signs, and other promotional items; occasional local travel required to pick up printed materials.

Assist Advancement and Enrollment departments with events, as needed, to include event set-up, signage, room decor, promoting the event, attending the event, and clean-up after the event.

Participate in school events and provide support as needed, coordinating with other team members.

Contribute to school-wide efforts by taking on additional marketing and communications responsibilities as assigned and participating in the school’s overall life through collaboration and teamwork.

Complete administrative duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

Minimum one (1) year of related experience in communications, marketing and/or journalism

Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Detail-oriented

Able to work both independently and collaboratively

Experience working with social media applications and Meta

Experience working with Canva, Google Forms, and Google Office/Microsoft Word

Experience with FinalSite CRM preferred, but not required

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) preferred

Experience with CapCut or other video editing software preferred, but not required

Photography or videographer experience is a plus

Ability to work with people with tact, patience, and courtesy

Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance

Ability to work some evenings and weekends, if needed for events

Physical Requirements

Audible hearing and voice

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (special event set-up), kneeling, bending and stooping
