Summary
The Supervisor of Volunteer Services is responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of the efficient operation of the Volunteer Services Department, including secretarial and general office functions, leadership and guidance to adult and teen volunteers, recruitment efforts, impact reporting, strategies, and service learning/life skills programs.
Responsibilities
Comprehensive management of operational activities (staffing, interviews, workflow, onboarding), supervision of all Volunteer Services Department volunteers, maintenance of departmental structure and systems, and assistance in developing policies and procedures.
Assurance of adequate phone coverage, timely handling of inquiries, and organization of appointments, meetings, agendas, and reports.
Management of volunteer uniforms, inventory, office environment, bulletin boards, committee correspondence, and inter‑office communication.
Delegation of volunteer engagement activities including birthday cards, sympathy, National Volunteer Week activities, and Volunteer Luncheon.
Tracking competency, training checklists, annual reviews, and activation of new volunteers using the Volgistics system.
Maintenance of relationships with service learning and life skills programs, high schools, colleges, community programs, and health system departments.
Representation of Penn Medicine at community engagements and events, arranging education programs, and promoting recognition and appreciation of volunteers.
Recruitment and engagement of prospective volunteers, conducting recruitment assessments, presenting about the program, and building relationships with civic and community organizations.
Recruitment of volunteers for skills‑based assignments such as massage, health administration, Reiki, etc.
Oversight of volunteer impact reporting, information systems, and maintenance of the Volunteer Services website and Volgistics database.
Assistance to departments in obtaining network and PennChart access for appropriate volunteers.
Education or Equivalent Experience
Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
Salary Range
$55,607.14 – $88,682.88 annually (based on 40 hours per week). Salary will be determined based on experience and education.
