Subsea Commissioning and Start-Up Specialist
Brunel is hiring a Subsea Commissioning and Start-Up Specialist to work with a major Oil and Gas company in Spring, TX on a long term contract.
Overview The Subsea Commissioning and Start-Up Advisor is part of an integrated Systems Completion and Start-Up team. This role supports the development and execution of subsea commissioning procedures and start-up work packs, aligned with the contractor commissioning sequence. The Advisor works closely with Operations, Engineering, and Contractor teams to ensure safe, efficient start-up and early operations.
Key Responsibilities
Support development and execution of subsea commissioning and start-up procedures and work packs
Provide input to performance testing procedures and support testing execution
Align commissioning and start-up schedules with planning and operations teams
Interface with vendors, specialists, laboratories, and contractors to resolve start-up issues
Participate in system walk‑downs, punch list development, and resolution of operability issues
Coordinate and support start‑up execution activities, including troubleshooting during start‑up and early operations
Monitor facility and system performance during start‑up and early operations
Review, finalize, and maintain start‑up documentation, incorporating approved changes
Support Start‑Up Leads with schedule input, progress tracking, and reporting
Act on behalf of Operations during walk‑downs, reviews, and readiness activities
Support handover activities and transfer of care, custody, and control to Operations
Assist with PSSRs and performance testing activities
Capture and support lessons learned from start‑up execution
Work with the Start‑Up Manager and Coordinator to support execution of the Start‑Up Plan
Serve as a focal point between Operations, Integrated Commissioning, and Engineering teams
Qualifications
Prior experience in a commissioning, start‑up, or operations support role
Discipline‑specific certifications or equivalent experience
Familiarity with project completions and commissioning practices
Experience with systems completion databases (e.g., WinPCS, MC+, CoConsole, Orbit)
Proficient in work management systems and Microsoft Office
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively in team environments without direct authority
Comfortable working under tight schedules and changing priorities
