Overview The Metropolitan Opera invites talented individuals to join our Fellowship program, focused on early‑career training in stage managing and directing. This full‑time, paid opportunity offers hands‑on experience with world‑class productions and professional mentorship.

Primary Responsibilities

Observe and work with Stage Managers and Directors throughout the season.

Maintain a regular written log of experiences and review it with a supervisor in regular meetings.

Contribute your perspective to day‑to‑day production activities.

Skills and Qualifications

Established curiosity and enthusiasm for a career in opera.

Basic music‑reading skills: must read piano/vocal scores while hearing the music; instrument or vocal performance not required.

Variable schedule commitment: nights, weekends, and up to 60 hours per week.

Regular attendance and timeliness essential.

Proficiency with basic computer programs.

Physical Demands

Regular standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, talking, and hearing.

Frequent navigation in unfamiliar, constantly changing terrain, at times in low‑light situations.

Occasional lifting up to 20 pounds.

Compensation and Application Salary: $1,575 per week. Application deadline: February 8, 2026.
