Job Description As a Pilot Line Manager, you will focus on producing battery materials and building cells that deliver high energy density, safety, and manufacturability. You will manage pilot line technicians, plan and organize cell manufacturing, and support R&D and manufacturing teams by creating and characterizing materials and cells. A background in chemical or mechanical engineering is preferred. This role involves hands-on, fast-paced work in a growing team passionate about transforming energy storage technology. Responsibilities Manage manufacturing technician team for daily operations of small and large format battery cell production, from raw materials to quality checks Support prototype and sample cell manufacturing, collaborating with process engineers Produce battery components such as powders, electrodes, and assemblies Plan and schedule production of prototype batteries and samples for customers Manage raw materials and inventory, and coordinate purchasing Characterize cell materials using analytical techniques (SEM, XRD, TGA, EIS, CV) Provide feedback on characterization results to optimize cell performance Identify process and equipment improvements, collaborating with process engineering Maintain safety standards, manage hazardous waste and cleaning areas with EH&S team Implement 5S and maintain cleanliness in lab spaces Perform preventative maintenance and calibrations on equipment Document materials and processes accurately and promptly Adapt to evolving processes while maintaining detailed records Requirements 5+ years of team management experience Experience in environments requiring high attention to detail Strong documentation and SOP skills Experience handling hazardous materials and waste management Ability to work in dry rooms and glove boxes for extended periods Manual dexterity and visual acuity Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Clear communication skills Adherence to safety policies Experience with powder processing, roll-to-roll processes, slurry mixing, or battery assembly Experience working in gloveboxes/dry rooms and chemical manufacturing Preferred Qualifications BA/BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field Familiarity with analytical tools like SEM, XRD, TGA, FTIR, DSC Over 5 years in a fast-paced lab or manufacturing environment Experience handling hazardous chemicals and laboratory safety Basic chemistry knowledge, including pH and chemical risks Job Details Type: Full-time Schedule: Monday to Friday Location: Relocate or commute to Hayward, CA Blue Current is committed to diversity and equal employment opportunity.
