The Senior Risk Manager for the First Line of Defense will work within the bank’s first line of defense function, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the risk management program. The role includes working with testers, providing training, and ensuring effective testing of controls, reporting, and remediation tracking. This individual should possess in-depth knowledge of bank policies, excellent relationship management, communication, and influencing skills, with a focus on executing a robust first line testing and risk management program. Responsibilities
Build and lead a team to perform control testing evaluating design and effectiveness. Develop and deliver internal controls training and support continuous improvement initiatives. Support development of RCSA testing frameworks and methodologies. Review and update RCSAs performed by first line managers. Create detailed control testing documentation and reviews. Manage risk activities, ensuring risks are identified, escalated, tracked, and remediated. Report findings and recommendations to senior management and committees. Validate and close control issues identified through testing. Act as a central contact for the first line, fostering strong relationships across units. Manage and develop the risk management team. Qualifications
Experience with risk identification, control design, planning, testing, and managing RCSA programs. Knowledge of banking operations, products, services, and related risks; AML/BSA, fraud, digital banking experience is a plus. Experience developing Key Risk Indicators is advantageous. Excellent communication and influential skills. Strong management skills for executing and evolving risk programs. Understanding of applicable regulations and compliance requirements. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Professional risk management certifications (e.g., CIA, PRM, CRMP) are a plus. Compensation
