Job Description Senior Principal, Software Engineer (Networking Testing)
We are seeking a Senior Principal Engineer as Solutions Architect to join the Product Delivery Test (PDT) team within HPE Networking division. In this role, you will be responsible for driving Data Center and Enterprise Campus solutions design and testing strategy ensuring robust, multi‑dimensional scaled environment tailored to market segments and customer use cases for HPE’s large customer base.
Qualifications
Bachelor or Master degree and 20+ years of experience in networking technologies and test engineering, including DC/AIML Fabric, EVPN, VXLAN, CLOS architecture, Layer 2/3, MPLS VPNs, and HA features.
Proven expertise as a system and solutions test engineer with knowledge of TCP, UDP, IPv4/IPv6, BGP, OSPF/ISIS, ARP, VLANs, MC‑LAG, LACP, EVPN‑VXLAN, GRE, IPSec, NAT, HTTP, NetConf.
Strong experience in automated test execution, debugging automation failures, and narrowing software issues from test results and logs. Knowledge in Python/Pytest/Go or other scripting language.
Expertise in use of networking test equipment like Spirent and Ixia, including automation.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and outstanding problem‑solving skills in diagnosis and resolution of customer issues.
Self‑starter, proactive, able to handle multiple tasks efficiently and work closely with cross‑functional teams.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement test topologies and test cases based on business needs of customers and reporting end‑to‑end testing.
Work closely with test engineers in best designs to enhance solutions coverage and reduce field defects.
Review python automation for efficient test scenarios and future regression tests.
Explore and build multidimensional deployment scenarios to measure SW quality and performance benchmarks.
Analyze and root‑cause software issues identified during execution, collaborating with stakeholders.
Build strong relationships with senior leadership to translate business objectives into project deliverables.
Provide proof of concept to realize customer use cases and support replication of customer found issues.
Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting, tool evaluations, and onsite support.
