Save Job

At Corgi, we’re building the first fully automated insurance carrier. Our goal is to rebuild the $1T+ insurance industry from the ground up using AI. We’re not just building a company—we’re building long-term financial infrastructure. If you’ve built investment strategies from scratch, exercise strong independent judgment, and want real ownership over how capital is deployed, we want you on the team. We’re well-funded and backed by top investors, giving us the freedom to think long‑term and move quickly. We care less about traditional titles and more about people who take responsibility for outcomes and are excited to build something enduring. The Role

We’re looking for a

Head of Investment

to design and lead Corgi’s investment strategy as we scale. You’ll be responsible for how capital is allocated, managed, and deployed across assets backing insurance liabilities, with a strong focus on risk‑adjusted returns and long‑term portfolio construction. This is a hands‑on role with real decision‑making authority. You won’t be inheriting a legacy portfolio or operating within a rigid playbook—you’ll be defining investment philosophy, building portfolio frameworks, and helping shape how an AI‑native insurance carrier approaches investing. You’ll work closely with leadership, finance, actuarial, and engineering teams, while owning investment decisions end to end. What You’ll Do

Design and own the investment strategy across assets backing insurance liabilities.

Lead portfolio construction, asset allocation, liquidity management, and duration positioning.

Monitor portfolio performance, risk exposures, and market conditions on an ongoing basis.

Ensure investment activity aligns with insurance regulatory requirements and NAIC guidelines.

Select, evaluate, and manage external asset managers, custodians, and counterparties where appropriate.

Establish investment policies, portfolio guidelines, and decision‑making frameworks.

Translate market insights and portfolio performance into clear recommendations for leadership.

Help build scalable investment infrastructure, including tools, reporting, and processes, as the portfolio grows.

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of experience managing institutional investment portfolios, ideally within insurance or other regulated environments.

Strong background in fixed income markets, portfolio construction, and asset‑liability management.

Working knowledge of NAIC investment rules and insurance investment constraints.

High conviction investor with sound judgment and comfort making decisions in uncertain environments.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize market data into actionable views.

Interest in working with engineers to improve investment workflows and data systems.

Ownership mindset—you take responsibility for results, not just analysis.

Nice to Have’s

Experience at an insurance carrier, reinsurer, or asset manager serving insurance clients.

Exposure to fintech, insurtech, or technology‑driven investment platforms.

Understanding of how investment decisions flow through statutory reporting.

Experience managing both internal portfolios and external managers.

Background in structured credit, liability‑driven investing, or insurance‑focused fixed income.

CPA or CFA designation.
