The Northwest CT Community Foundation (NCCF) is entering a dynamic new chapter following the planned retirement of its long-serving CEO. With strong financial health, a highly engaged Board, and deep-rooted community relationships, the next CEO will have the opportunity to guide the Community Foundation’s next era of impact and innovation. The Board anticipates naming a new CEO in the summer of 2026, with the leadership transition taking place in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The Chief Executive Officer of NCCF serves as the organization’s strategic, operational, and community leader. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the CEO oversees all aspects of organizational performance, including strategy, donor relations, community relationships, financial stewardship, staff leadership, and public representation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership–Develop and execute NCCF’s strategic goals in partnership with the Board; provide visionary, collaborative leadership aligned with community needs.
Philanthropy, Donor Relations & Resource Development–Strengthen and grow donor relationships; expand NCCF’s philanthropic reach; maintain NCCF’s reputation for stewardship.
Grantmaking & Community Impact–Oversee high-quality, equitable grantmaking; build strong relationships with nonprofits and civic partners; support collaborative problem-solving.
Organizational Leadership & Management–Lead and support a high-performing staff; foster a culture of collaboration, learning, and service; ensure strong internal systems and operations.
Board Partnership & Governance–Serve as primary liaison to the Board; support committees and strategic governance.
Financial Oversight–Ensure financial sustainability and transparency; oversee budgeting, investment oversight, and audits.
External Relations & Community Engagement–Represent NCCF as a trusted community leader; engage with donors, nonprofits, and civic officials.
Qualifications Required
Demonstrated commitment to community wellbeing and philanthropy
Significant leadership experience in mission-driven fields
Proven success in strategy, management, and collaborative leadership
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Experience with financial oversight and organizational operations
Qualifications Preferred
Experience in community foundations or philanthropy
Familiarity with Northwest CT or similar regions
Experience in donor relations or fundraising
Experience with investment oversight
