Position Summary Wolfe Research, LLC is launching a new Alternative Asset Management business. Wolfe Alternative Asset Management (WAM) is a strategic expansion of the Wolfe brand into the alternative investment space.

It is a membership-based platform offering a menu of curated, institutional-grade investment opportunities across venture capital, private equity, private secondaries, and a broad range of investment funds—including venture, private equity, hedge, and real estate funds—leveraging Wolfe Research’s trusted brand, reputation, and extensive network.

Our mission is to deliver unparalleled access to alternative investments, supported by Wolfe’s research expertise and industry relationships, to drive superior, differentiated returns for institutional investors, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.

Role Summary

The Managing Director will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and executing the platform's investment strategy.

Reporting to the Head of the Alternative Asset Management business, this position involves sourcing, evaluating, and managing investments in a hybrid PE/VC model, blending hands-on operational involvement with high-risk, high-reward opportunities.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned PE professional with VC exposure, capable of leading deal teams, building portfolio value, and contributing to fundraising and platform growth.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Sourcing and Deal Origination : Identify and cultivate a robust pipeline of hybrid investment opportunities, leveraging networks in PE and VC ecosystems. Conduct market research, attend industry events, and build relationships with entrepreneurs, intermediaries, and co-investors.

Due Diligence and Execution : Lead comprehensive due diligence processes, including financial modeling, market analysis, competitive landscape analysis, and risk assessment. Structure and negotiate deals, from term sheets to closing, ensuring alignment with the platform's hybrid strategy.

Portfolio Management and Value Creation : Oversee post-investment activities, such as strategic guidance, exit planning.

Fundraising and Investor Relations : Support capital raising efforts by preparing pitch materials, engaging limited partners (LPs), and demonstrating track record of returns. Contribute to investor reporting, including performance metrics and market insights.

Team Leadership and Development : Mentor junior investment professionals, foster a collaborative team culture, and recruit top talent to build the platform's capabilities.

Strategic Platform Contributions : Collaborate with senior leadership on overall platform strategy, risk management, and innovation in hybrid investment approaches.

Compliance and Risk Oversight : Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, ethical standards, and internal policies in all investment activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

Experience : 10+ years in private equity, with at least 5 years in a senior role (e.g., Principal or MD level). Demonstrated exposure to venture capital, growth equity, or crossover investments. Proven track record of successful deals, exits, and value creation.

Transaction Experience : Demonstrated success in deal origination and execution, having closed multiple transactions in relevant sectors and investment stages.

Technical Skills : Proficiency in financial modeling (all three financial statements, LBO, DCF, cap tables), valuation skills, and deal structuring. Familiarity with legal aspects of PE/VC transactions.

Attributes : Exceptional leadership and communication abilities; strong network in investment communities; analytical rigor with entrepreneurial mindset; high integrity, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, rigorous environment.

Preferred Attributes

Experience in launching or scaling new investment platforms/funds.

Strong track record of sourcing, diligencing, executing, and monetizing transactions in private equity and/or venture capital.

Compensation for this role is market competitive with a base salary range of $350,000-$400,000. We intend to offer the selected candidate a base salary within this range, based on non‑discriminatory factors including but not limited to skill set, job‑related experience, and location. In addition, we offer an annual discretionary incentive bonus and competitive employee benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage; life, accident and disability insurance.
