Job Summary The Electrical Controls Engineer will execute engineering functions for the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical and control systems for water and wastewater treatment solutions. This position requires strong technical expertise in electrical systems, instrumentation, and controls with a focus on water and wastewater applications. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Design comprehensive electrical systems including Motor Control Centers (MCC), Control Panels, Local Control Panels (LCP), and junction boxes specifically for water/wastewater applications
Develop and review single line diagrams, control panel drawings, and P&ID diagrams
Create detailed interconnecting wiring diagrams between various equipment and subsystems
Prepare schematics, loop diagrams, layout drawings, and installation drawings
Design control configuration schemes tailored to project-specific requirements
Collaborate with PLC programmers to develop control strategies for water/wastewater treatment equipment
Specify control system requirements and interfaces for PLC programming teams
Implement and optimize VFD parameter programming
Configure and troubleshoot various control and data network protocols
Create comprehensive instrument data sheets and technical specifications for electrical and I&C components
Apply UL508A, NEC standards, and latest industry codes in all designs and implementations
Conduct thorough testing and simulation of control systems for factory and field acceptance tests
Prepare detailed test reports and maintain project documentation according to company procedure
Assess project specifications and identify potential risks and budget constraints
Supervise and manage panel fabrication vendors during manufacturing processes
Serve as technical liaison with clients on electrical and control system matters
Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases
Maintain project schedules as determined by the Project Management team
Support junior engineers through knowledge-sharing, training, and mentoring
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with focus on Electrical and Control systems
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial/municipal wastewater treatment facilities
Experience with commissioning water/wastewater treatment plants is highly desirable
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical/control systems design for water/wastewater applications
Proficiency in creating and interpreting technical drawings including single line diagrams, control panel drawings, and P&IDs
Strong understanding of UL508A and NEC standards for industrial applications
Practical experience with VFD parameter programming and control system implementation
Working knowledge of control and data network protocols
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Work Environment
Location: Anaheim, California Headquarters
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 hrs per day
