Become part of our team and join our mission to make life healthier for everyone in our community!**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**Management of all aspects of inpatient rehabilitation therapies across the continuum of care from acute care, critical care, ED and PACU at UWMC Northwest campus. Scope of supervision may include occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy.

This position is responsible for operations including fiscal, personnel, quality improvement, productivity and care coordination. This position reports to the Director of Rehab Therapy Services.Oversees performance evaluation of inpatient rehab therapy staff, maintains performance improvement activities within the department and participates in Quality Improvement activities.

Evaluates budget performance versus budget controls and takes appropriate action to remain in budget guidelines. Provides data to the direction for budget development and in devising systems that support efficiency of care. Maintains records pertinent to personnel and the operation of the department.* Hires, manages and supervises staff of inpatient Rehab Therapy. Regularly performs assessments of staff, providing constructive input and coaches them for performance, facilitates needed training, conducts formal performance evaluations. Interviews, hires, and coordinates orientation of new staff. Oversees development of needed competencies.* Responsible for setting exceptional standards for inpatient rehab therapies care across the continuum of care, medical and surgical conditions seen by UWMC and sees that these standards are met and maintained by staff.* Communicates the Patients are First expectations and standards to the staff, patients, and others.

Performs AIDET audits and leader rounding with staff.* Manages staff training and compliance with regulatory standards such as those set by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), The Joint Commission (TJC) and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) in treatment and documentation for all staff.* Recruits, interviews, and recommends hiring applicants using criteria developed from input from providers, populations served and own assessment of the needs of the department.* Manages student training and residency programs rehab therapy and provides support and mentorship for clinical student supervisors.* Plans and leads department staff meetings.

**Management of department operations:*** Manages therapist schedules based on the needs of the patient populations seen, optimizing patient access, productivity, and staff engagement.* Manages support staff schedules, productivity and workflow.* Manages service recovery for patients and follow up.* Continuously assesses staff mix based on populations served, volumes, types of referrals, requests from providers and medical center, and evidence-based developments within the scope of licensure.* Develops and tracks quality metrics with staff involvement and communication. Leads and participates in initiatives that improve care provided by therapists. Participates in the overall strategic plan for UWMC.* Makes periodic inspections to ensure observance of safety precautions.* Manages department supplies and equipment. Ensures equipment safe operation and use. Recommends equipment to optimize therapeutic intervention. Identifies equipment that optimizes patient care with fiscal responsibility.* Responsible for writing and updating policies and procedures related to therapy services. Ensures standards written meet the requirements of The Joint Commission (TJC), the Washington State Department of Health, and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation facilities (CARF).* Regularly communicates with providers, nursing leadership and staff, and other disciplines to assure needs are being met and that the standards of care are of the highest quality. Regularly communicates with the Director to optimize access, quality of services provided, support, productivity, training and education needs.* Tracks patient satisfaction, staff productivity, expenses, revenue and staff satisfaction and reports on these regularly to the Director.* Attends site and enterprise meetings to represent therapy services as assigned.**Fiscal management:*** Understands and manages billing, productivity, budget development, budget monitoring, benchmarking, and financial reporting.* Quality Improvement: Includes, but not limited to, leading and participating in initiatives that improve care provided by Rehab Therapy. Examples include: improving the coordination of therapy, patient satisfaction initiatives, etc. Participates in overall strategic plan for UWM.**REQUIREMENTS**:3 or more years clinical experience as a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech Therapist
