Job Summary We are hiring an AI Integration Data Scientist / Engineer (depending on degree) to lead the secure, scalable, and strategic adoption of artificial intelligence across the Technical Services Group. This pioneering role will be instrumental in identifying high‑impact opportunities, embedding AI into core workflows, and ensuring responsible implementation aligned with our business objectives, security protocols, and compliance standards. You will collaborate across departments to transform AI potential into real‑world performance, driving automation, enhancing decision‑making, and elevating customer experience and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is a forward‑thinking technologist with a proven track record of developing and deploying AI solutions across diverse environments. You’ll combine strategic vision with hands‑on execution to deliver practical, scalable, and secure AI integrations.

Location This position follows a hybrid work model, with a combination of remote work and on‑site travel as needed.

Responsibilities

Partner with business units to identify and prioritize AI use cases with measurable ROI.

Design and implement AI‑powered solutions that integrate seamlessly into existing systems and workflows.

Build prototypes and proof‑of‑concepts to validate AI applications before scaling.

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive adoption and alignment of AI initiatives.

Evaluate and implement third‑party AI platforms, APIs, and models in coordination with IT and security teams.

Ensure all AI integrations comply with data governance, privacy regulations, and internal security protocols.

Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless technical integration.

Develop documentation, training, and enablement resources to support AI literacy and responsible use across teams.

Monitor performance, adoption, and impact of AI tools; iterate based on feedback and evolving business needs.

Stay current with emerging AI technologies, regulations, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience with a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.

An advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the experience requirement.

Related experience includes work in AI/ML implementation, automation, or systems integration.

Strong understanding of machine learning, natural language processing, and data engineering.

Experience with enterprise‑grade AI platforms (e.g., Azure AI, OpenAI, AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI).

Familiarity with APIs, workflow automation tools, cloud services, and integration frameworks.

Deep knowledge of cybersecurity principles, data protection, secure software development, and responsible AI practices.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non‑technical audiences.

Additional Desired Skillsets and Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience leading cross‑functional AI initiatives or working in a consulting capacity.

Certifications in AI/ML or cloud technologies (e.g., Azure AI Engineer, AWS ML Specialist).

Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).

Pay and Compensation Pay: $76,000.00 – $116,000.00 per year.

The base salary range for this position in the U.S. at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000.00 and $116,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job‑related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.

Employment Conditions Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. The position requires U.S. citizenship (no dual citizenship) and the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance, which involves an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test, and prior employment reference verifications.
