Director, Business Development – Commercial Construction Reports To
President & Vice President Summary
The Director of Business Development is responsible for driving strategic growth and expanding market presence for our commercial construction company. This role will lead client acquisition efforts, build and maintain strong relationships with developers, architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders, and identify new project opportunities. The Director will work closely with company leadership to align business development strategies with overall organizational goals, ensuring sustainable revenue growth and a strong project pipeline. Upon acquisition of a lead this person will work with the pre-construction team to establish project estimates, organize client meetings and guide the project through to final contract. Once in contract the role will continue to serve as a liaison between operation and our client assuring that we always maintain 100% client satisfaction and serve our motto of “Where Customer Service Meets Construction”. Responsibilities
Develop and execute business development strategies to secure new commercial construction projects. Identify, pursue, and build relationships with potential clients, developers, architects, engineers, and industry partners. Oversee proposal development, presentations, and negotiations to win new business. Collaborate with preconstruction, estimating, and operations teams to ensure alignment of client expectations and project deliverables. Track market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments to anticipate opportunities. Represent the company at networking events, trade associations, and industry conferences. Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities, reporting regularly on progress to leadership. Develop marketing and branding initiatives in coordination with internal and external resources. Mentor and lead business development staff to ensure consistent and professional client engagement. Support long-term strategic planning to expand market share in targeted sectors. Qualifications
5–10 years of business development experience within construction or related industry. Strong business development and interpersonal skills to open doors and foster relationships. Strategic thinker with a hunter mentality. Collaborative mindset with an understanding of operational alignment between business development and project delivery. Confident communicator with ability to negotiate, close deals and exceed targets. Results-oriented mindset that consistently achieves outcomes and pushes through obstacles to deliver strong performance. Takes initiative and tackles challenges with energy, urgency, and focus. Builds strong relationships and delivers high-value solutions that exceed client expectations. Compensation & Benefits
