COMPENSATION:
$280,000 to $350,000 Base Salary, dependent on experience

COMPANY PROFILE: This community health center (FQHC) opened in 2011 and currently employs 25 providers across a variety of specialties - podiatry, obstetrics, infection disease, pediatrics - as well as internal and family medicine. They operate 4 clinics in the greater Lancaster area, with a robust support staff of clinical and administrative team members. They are currently seeking a Chief Medical Officer to join their team in a hybrid leadership / clinical care role.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will report to the Chief Executive Officer, functioning in a role that’s 70% clinical patient care and 30% leadership.
Clinical Responsibilities:
provide direct patient care for at least 2.5 hours each work day
serve as a clinical role model for the provider team
participate as a backup for after-hours on-call
work with other providers to ensure continuity of care
promote and demonstrate patient-centered care
promote and demonstrate effective care coordination across service lines
Administrative Responsibilities:
supervise licensed medical providers
conduct performance reviews for medical providers
monitor provider performance dashboards
identify and support providers needing performance improvement, mentorship, etc.
assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention of medical providers
monitor note closure rates
enforce timely completion of documentation
lead monthly provider meetings
participate in executive leadership team and Board of Directors meetings
serve as the clinical “face” of the organization in internal and external settings
lead design, implementation, and monitoring of quality improvement and assurance
drive performance on clinical quality metrics (HEDIS, UDS, etc.)
support annual and ad hoc chart audits, peer reviews, etc.
ensure clinical compliance with all guidelines and regularly bodies
collaborate with the Compliance & Risk Officer as needed
Working in a non-profit environment, the CMO must be a mission-driven physician leader providing strategic oversight and ensuring that clinical care delivery aligns with regulatory standards, organizational goals, and the mission of serving vulnerable populations.
REQUIREMENTS:
California medical license
DEA
Board Certified, Primary Care Specialty
5+ years practice experience
2+ years leadership experience
