We are looking for an exceptional Senior iOS Engineer who is passionate about architecting elegant, high‑performance applications and integrating innovative Apple technologies into large‑scale systems. In this role, you will help shape the next generation of News and Stocks experiences across iOS, macOS, watchOS, and other Apple platforms, driving technical innovation while delivering exceptional, high‑quality user experiences at scale.

Description As the creators of Apple’s News and Stocks apps running on iOS, watchOS, macOS, and tvOS, the engineers on our team have an enormous impact on the products we ship. We all care deeply about crafting experiences of the highest quality. As a Senior iOS Engineer on the team, you will be a key technical leader, driving the architectural design, implementation, and evolution of core features for next‑generation News and Stocks experiences. You will thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing deep technical execution with critical thinking across complex systems, while rapidly prototyping innovative ideas and establishing robust, forward‑looking architectural foundations. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with Swift, a deep understanding of Apple’s ecosystem, and a strong passion for delivering high‑quality software. You will collaborate closely with a team of dedicated engineers, designers, and domain experts to build new features, enhance existing applications, and deliver reliable, high‑performing software, creating user‑delighting features while laying a strong technical foundation for future development. Strong engineering, collaboration, and leadership skills are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities

Architectural Leadership: Defining and evolving the technical architecture for complex imaging workflows, ensuring scalability, performance, and future extensibility.

Innovation & Feature Ownership: Leading the design and implementation of innovative features that leverage Apple's unique hardware capabilities, translating ambitious requirements into elegant, performant, and intuitive user experiences.

Performance & Efficiency Optimization: Meticulously optimizing performance, resource utilization, and responsiveness across demanding workflows, we ensure a consistently fluid and delightful user experience, even with large intensive operations.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partnering closely with design, product management, domain experts, and other engineering teams to translate user needs and creative visions into exceptional software experiences.

Technical Mentorship & Growth: Guiding and mentoring a team of dedicated engineers, fostering best development practices, and contributing to the growth and culture of the team.

Minimum Qualifications

6+ years of iOS software engineering experience with Swift/SwiftUI or UIKit/AppKit

Strong mastery of software architecture, object‑oriented design, design patterns, data structures, and algorithms

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience

Proven track record of technical excellence, setting a high bar for code quality, documentation, and engineering best practices

Ability to break down complex features into practical, scalable, and implementable solutions

Expertise in identifying and resolving iOS performance bottlenecks, including memory management and power efficiency

Experience technically leading projects, mentoring engineers, and driving cross‑functional initiatives from concept to delivery

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in highly collaborative environments

Preferred Qualifications

Track record of developing products that have a focus on delivering an exceptional user experience

Experience working on large‑scale, multi‑team, cross‑functional projects

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,100 and $318,400, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
