Job Summary Bus Inspector monitors and inspects all school bus routes, vehicles, and driver/driver assistants. Is responsible for daily compliance documentation of the transporters in the preschool program within the Nassau/Suffolk County Preschool Transportation system. Responsible to respond timely and accurately to all inquiries and document appropriately. Must have solid understanding of transportation safety procedures specific to paratransit. Responsible to develop safety procedures appropriate to changes in State law.

The expected pay rate is $18-$19/hr. Full-time employees are offered a range of health and wellness benefits as well as 401(k) with company match paid vacation time, sick time, and company paid holidays.

Your activities

Conducts field site inspections

Maintains log book of route changes

Interfaces with provider schools and transporters

Mediates between parent, provider school and transporter

Computer data entry of preschool data

Attends all refresher classes

Processes all inquires regarding preschool transportation

Responds to all accidents

Assists the driver certification examiner in the notification of changes in state law

Maintain driver files

Shall assist manager or assistant manager with the development of new safety procedures

Your profile

Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Data Entry Experience

Customer Service Experience

Must be detailed orientated and have excellent oral and written communication skills

High School Diploma required

Must have valid driver’s license
