Role Overview Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) is on a mission to revolutionize email experiences. In the SES team, you will lead a fast‑growing program that has broad service‑wide impact. You will translate strategic business needs into features and projects, collaborate with customers and technology leaders, and deliver features quickly.
Responsibilities
Lead a mid‑sized team of Software Development Engineers (SDEs), directing work to deliver high‑quality features and functions in email technology.
Translate strategic business needs into features and projects, working with customers and other technology leaders to prioritize and deliver.
Coach and mentor a diverse team, fostering knowledge sharing, professional growth, and an inclusive environment.
Model responsible use of AI in planning and operations, embed intelligent tooling into day‑to‑day practices, and coach an AI‑first problem‑solving mindset.
Ensure the team’s work meets quality, reliability, and scalability standards for large‑scale, fault‑tolerant, distributed systems.
Participate in on‑call rotation, resolving root causes to eliminate recurring incidents.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years of engineering team management experience.
7+ years of engineering experience.
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
3+ years of Software Engineer/Developer experience.
1+ year providing technical leadership and project management across the software development lifecycle.
Experience developing large‑scale, distributed software systems using Java, C#, or C++.
Experience with service‑oriented architecture and distributed programming.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
Knowledge of engineering practices, coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification, and site operations.
Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong communication skills with users, technical teams, and senior leadership.
Recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and coaching experience managing Software Engineers to improve skill and effectiveness.
Experience applying AI‑first problem‑solving mindset in engineering practice.
Benefits Base salary range: USD 184,900.00 – 250,200.00 annually. Additional compensation may include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
