Senior Medical Science Liaison Stroke/Thrombosis (Queens, New York) The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a trusted scientific expert and partner representing Bayer in the medical community through the dissemination of and education on scientific data related to Bayer products across the product lifecycle. The MSL establishes proactive long‑term scientific and strategic relationships with key healthcare providers, and stakeholders, with major medical associations and academic centers of excellence. The MSL serves as technical and scientific support in the field for healthcare providers ensuring safe and effective use of Bayer products including timely adverse event reporting and responses to unsolicited requests for detailed product and disease state information.
Location Queens, New York, United States – Residence Based
Responsibilities
Complete core training curriculum and MSL Certification; demonstrate accountability to continuous learning and growth.
Leverage deep therapeutic area knowledge to provide scientific expertise and support to internal and external audiences.
Establish and maintain robust long‑term relationships with thought leaders and key stakeholders through education on up‑to‑date scientific information.
Engage proactively with healthcare professionals, research sites, associations, societies, and other stakeholders according to defined scope and engagement plans.
Provide timely, accurate, and balanced responses to medical inquiries and cooperate with Medical Communications.
Support research projects aligned with medical and brand strategy, including investigator‑initiated research and study support.
Generate and communicate relevant insights to deepen understanding of patients, healthcare professionals, consumers, or treatment landscape.
Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders in the territory, including Area General Manager, Field DGOS, and other key teams.
Lead project teams or task forces as appropriate within the Franchise Medical Team.
Champion new ways of working, including platforms, systems, capabilities, and data‑driven customer engagement.
Qualifications
BA/BS degree required; advanced terminal doctorate preferred.
Minimum of 1 year MSL experience or 2 years experience within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry or post‑graduate fellowship.
Demonstrated project management ability and expertise in communicating scientific information.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
Understanding of clinical trial design and ability to critically evaluate medical literature.
Ability to work in a team environment and build productive relationships internally and externally.
Valid driver’s license with eligibility to drive a company vehicle; travel 50%+ required.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced terminal doctorate in medical or health sciences (M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., DPH, Ed.D.) or equivalent advanced degree.
Working knowledge of FDA, OIG requirements.
Area of expertise in neurology, stroke, thrombosis, or anticoagulation preferred.
Benefits Employees can expect to be paid a salary of between $156,000 to $234,000. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and more.
