Summary of Position The Communications Manager will be a strategic storyteller and brand steward for Camp Harbor View. This role leads the development and execution of an integrated communications strategy that amplifies CHV’s impact, advances our mission, and engages audiences across Greater Boston and beyond. The ideal candidate is a creative strategist and skilled communicator who thrives on collaboration and takes pride in producing exceptional work that inspires action. They will manage CHV’s social and digital presence, oversee media and public relations, and ensure brand consistency across all channels. The Communications Manager will work closely with Development and Program teams to share the stories of CHV’s youth, families, and community to grow awareness and support for our work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Strategy and Planning
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that strengthens CHV’s visibility and reputation.
Translate organizational goals into compelling narratives and measurable communications objectives.
Partner with senior leadership to align messaging with CHV’s strategic priorities.
Brand and Content Management
Lead the creation of original content for digital, print, and multimedia platforms including website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and publications.
Maintain brand voice and visual identity across all internal and external communications.
Develop and manage a content calendar that highlights key milestones, programs, and events.
Digital and Social Media Leadership
Oversee CHV’s social media strategy, ensuring engaging and timely content across platforms. Use analytics and performance data to inform decisions and optimize reach, engagement, and conversion.
Manage CHV’s website content and updates to ensure it reflects current initiatives and campaigns.
Lead the team on social media content creation — from concept to production to publication
Media and Public Relations
Serve as a primary contact for media inquiries, and proactively pitch stories to local and regional outlets.
Support executive visibility and thought leadership opportunities.
Manage vendor and consultant relationships related to communications and media.
Development and Event Support
Collaborate with the Development team to create compelling donor communications, event materials, and campaigns.
Develop and execute communication plans for CHV’s signature events, including the annual Beach Ball.
Systems and Analytics
Oversee contact management and audience segmentation in CHV’s HubSpot marketing platform.
Track and report on communications metrics to assess impact and drive continuous improvement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in communications, marketing, or public relations.
Demonstrated success developing and executing communications strategies.
Experience managing external consultants.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Experience managing social media, digital platforms, and content management systems.
Comfort with analytics and data-driven decision‑making.
Experience working with CRM and marketing automation tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.).
