Base pay range $17.83/hr - $22.92/hr

Job Summary Provides support with the daily activities of the organization including but not limited to filing, telephone coverage, patient registration, and referrals as needed. Ensures delivery of quality patient services through utilization of patient‑focused processes, established work standards, and policies and procedures.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

Answer telephone and respond to inquiries, direct caller to appropriate area, or initiate triage slip for medical personnel response.

Greet and direct patients, salespeople, and visitors with courtesy and discretion, providing exemplary customer service.

Effectively manage calls and deal with patient requests and complaints.

Read, comprehend and apply knowledge about insurance co‑pays, deductibles and other insurance related information.

Detect and correct errors, complete forms, obtain needed information and maintain logs and files.

Register patients and verify that patient’s record is up to date and accurate; enter appropriate changes in CPS.

Accurately enter confidential personal health information and financial information into CPS; verify insurance information.

Manage files, initiate and reply to record requests, photocopy records and documents for billing and/or legal services; send and receive information via facsimile machine or email, complying with all laws pertaining to medical records.

Walk in patients into schedule.

Comply with federal and local patient privacy laws.

Verify patient and or guardian identification.

Collect and apply patient payments, adjustments, and reconcile daily cash reports.

Assist in coverage for other areas.

Perform other tasks as needed under the direction of the lead PSR and/or Director of Operations.

Maintain open relationships and lines of communication with co‑workers.

Skills / Abilities

Deliver exceptional customer service by empathizing with customer/patient needs.

Work effectively with diverse patient populations.

Analytical & critical thinking skills to resolve conflicts and problem‑solve to meet customer needs.

Data entry skills with ability to check accuracy of detail work such as correct spelling of names, numbers, dates and times.

Plan, prioritize, and organize work and adapt to possible changes to plan as necessary.

Education & Experience

Required: High school, G.E.D. or equivalent.

Required: One year of customer service experience.

Required: The job requires working one evening per week for coverage.

Desired: Experience in a medical office preferred. Experience with Electronic Medical Records Systems.
