$110,000-$125,000 annually, plus management incentives

Job Description Burlington Telecom is a Schurz Communications company that operates an expanding all‑fiber network, delivering residential and business high‑speed data, internet, video, and voice services. The Business Manager/Controller will oversee all financial aspects of the company, including planning and reporting, budgeting, credit, tax and regulatory compliance, internal controls, collections, and risk management. Additional responsibilities include managing the daily accounting activities – general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and billing.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and develop accounting staff and maintain a financial system that is organized/accurate and complies with GAAP and SCI corporate policy.

Prepare, analyze, and distribute timely and accurate monthly financial statements, quarterly projections, and financial projections for strategic planning.

Participate in strategic planning.

Conduct special financial analysis as needed.

Coordinate the compilation, analysis, and written presentation of the annual operating budget with the General Manager and department heads.

Review monthly variance reports to budget.

Maintain respect for and oversight of business operations of all departments.

Ensure accounting procedures and internal control functions protect the company’s assets.

Maintain proper levels of commercial insurance coverage on company property.

Work with department heads to enhance efficiency and increase profitability.

Assist managers in developing departmental expense goals, objectives, and systems.

Maintain regulatory and local/state tax compliance.

Accurately account for fixed assets, perform ROI analysis of proposed projects, and conduct periodic fixed asset audits.

Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Document and control all contracts, including program rights contracts, and monitor compliance.

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

5 or more years of progressive accounting experience.

Experience managing and supervising the operations of a business office.

Experience in the broadband industry is helpful but not required.

Advanced knowledge of accounting software and Excel, good 10‑key skills.

Proficient in Word.

Ability to accurately prepare and analyze financial statements.

Proven track record as a result‑oriented Controller or Financial Manager with responsibility for monthly closing, forecasting, and budget preparation.

Ability to partner with department heads to achieve organizational goals.

Ability to develop and coach accounting staff, leading by example.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to facilitate change; flexible and adaptable to meet changing needs and priorities.

Strong problem‑solving skills.

Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with great attention to detail.

Ability to meet tight deadlines, work well under pressure, and multitask.

Quick, accurate, and calm decision‑making process.

Strong integrity and a high level of confidentiality.

Ability to work independently with little supervision while remaining committed to a team environment.

Positive outlook and ability to foster a positive work environment.

Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains software preferred.

Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
