Basic Job Functions Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Responsibilities
Ensuring all Department of Transportation regulations are met by Nucor Rebar Fabrication drivers and contracted carriers
Maintaining strong relationships with carrier partners
Procuring contract carriers for shipments
Scheduling deliveries with customers and carriers
Negotiating freight rates with carriers
Creating bills of lading in NRF systems and ensuring proper documentation are delivered to carriers
Maintaining communication through delivery
Approving and processing freight invoices
Serving as administrative support in fleet maintenance
Serving as backup to the division Scheduler
Any other tasks assigned by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or local equivalent
Willingness to work scheduled/unscheduled overtime, weekends, holidays, and hours outside of normal business hours, as business needs dictate
At least one year experience using Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
Shipping experience, familiar with logistics, and warehouse management skills
Self-starting, positive problem-solver always looking for work that needs to be done and ways to improve their work. Energetic with enthusiasm that is motivating to others.
