Job Overview
The Virginia Beach Convention Center exists to facilitate successful experiences by offering a full range of high-quality services and amenities for conventions, professional trade shows, consumer shows and community events. The right candidate for this position will be a self‑motivated individual who enjoys a challenging work environment and wants to make a difference in our organization. You will be an integral part of a team committed to providing exceptional customer service to our clients. Responsibilities
Starting salary: $15.53 per hour Must be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays Greet patrons at the Convention Center Box Office Accurately process sale of public admission tickets, collect payments, and calculate change Accurately count and reconcile large sums of money Accurately calculate and make monetary change Operate POS, credit card machine, computerized ticketing system, calculator, computer, and multi‑function device (copier, printer, fax machine) Provide accurate event and visitor information to guests Direct patrons to the correct room/hall hosting a ticketed event Work with Duty Managers, Security, EMT, and Police for crowd management during heavily attended events Maintain excellent verbal communication skills with both internal and external customers Wear the provided uniform in accordance with Convention Center uniform policies Demonstrate excellent customer service skills Sit for extended periods of time as well as stand, crouch, bend, or kneel Withstand loud entertainment environments Get along with co‑workers and work as a team Report all completed work to the Box Office Supervisor and/or Account Clerk Supervisor Complete Crowd Manager Training, Integrity Connection for Members, and First Aid/CPR/Stop the Bleed within six months of hire and maintain certification Preferred Experience
