Position Overview The YALC tutor provides academic support for students and minimal instructional support for classroom teachers. This role will have a primary focus on Math support but will additionally assist with academic support in all subjects. The YALC provides academic and workforce development and GED preparation courses for young adults between the ages of 17 and older. Responsibilities Assist the classroom teacher with delivering instruction Work with students individually and in small groups Monitor students' progress Identify students' academic needs Assist with the development of learning activities Help students prepare for the official GED Exam Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (required) Experience working with opportunity youth Has an extensive experience teaching or tutoring math Have a keen understanding of the official GED exam Tutoring and/or teaching experience with students ages 17 and older Salary and Benefits Maya Angelou Schools and See Forever Foundation salaries are comparable to those of other public charter schools in the District of Columbia area. Part-Time employees who work at least 30 hours per week are eligible for medical benefit coverage. We offer a robust benefits plan, including health care coverage, HSA/FSA, and dependent care accounts, voluntary dental and vision benefits, a 401 (k) retirement savings plan with employer contribution offered after 1 year of service, along with the opportunity to positively impact students with a broad range of experiences and backgrounds.
