The James Dyson Foundation (JDF) – James Dyson’s international charity – aims to inspire young people to realise their engineering potential. The Foundation draws on inspiration from Dyson technology to provide free educational resources and workshops to schools to give students a glimpse into the exciting world of engineering. The Foundation also supports university students through the James Dyson Award.
About the role The JDF Assistant Manager will be responsible for growing JDF’s presence, educational offerings, and partnerships, in support of our growth in China. Reporting into Director of Communications & Government Affairs GC, the JDF Senior Executive must have a passion for JDF’s mission and a drive to communicate that mission persuasively and uphold its integrity. We are looking for an enthusiast, with good communication skills, to support:
Growth of the JDF in China, in collaboration with Communications & Government Affairs (GA) team in Greater China (GC).
Implementation of JDF educational resources and STEM programme with primary and middle schools, institutions and agencies to drive the outreach of JDF educational resources and activities both online and offline.
Development of partnerships with universities to support undergraduates in their degree programmes and to secure high-quality entries for the annual James Dyson Award.
Communications and volunteerism related tasks, with agility to engage with different internal stakeholders in the local market, incl. but not limited to Comms & GA, Human Resources (HR) and Research, Design, Development (RDD) team members in amplifying JDF resources in China.
Curation of volunteering opportunities for Dyson people to amplify the work of the JDF and the James Dyson Award.
Fundraising campaigns for Dyson chosen charities and encourage philanthropy from Dyson people.
About you
Excellent project and time management skills to deal with tight deadlines. Attention to details.
High energy with maturity to work under pressure in a remote reporting and fast-paced environment.
Strategic and creative thinker, analytical, being able to translate complex business needs into concise and accessible languages for both internal and external stakeholders.
Relationship builder, effective communicator and team player with ability to build and manage stakeholder relationships.
Comfortable operating within a geographically dispersed team that requires constant global interactions.
Self-motivated and proactive, constantly looking for new opportunities and ways to do things better.
Fluent in both spoken and written Chinese and English.
Traveling may be required.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience and/or genuine interest in education or communications preferred.
