Central Plumbing, Heating, Excavation is seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Journeyman to join our commercial construction team. This role is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and modification of HVAC duct systems and associated sheet metal components on commercial job sites. The ideal candidate brings strong technical skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

Installations of commercial sheet metal duct systems according to project drawings and specifications

Construct / fabricate sheet metal fittings if necessary

Perform field layout, fitting, and adjustments to ensure proper system alignment and airflow performance

Lead and help train apprentices and field crews, providing direction, mentorship, and quality oversight

Coordinate daily work activities with foremen, project managers, and other trades to maintain productivity and resolve field issues

Safely operate lifts, scaffolding, and jobsite equipment in compliance with company and OSHA safety standards

Inspect completed work to ensure quality, accuracy, and conformance with plans

Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous skill development

Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work area

Qualifications

Current Journeyman Sheet Metal Certification

Minimum of four years of commercial sheet metal installation experience

Strong knowledge of HVAC duct systems, sheet metal fabrication, and installation practices

GED or High School Diploma

Effective communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey instructions, coordinate with field crews, and communicate with foremen, project managers, and other trades.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal fabrication equipment

Ability to supervise and direct field personnel, if necessary, while maintaining safety and quality standards

Demonstrated commitment to jobsite safety and safe work practices

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Compliance with Central’s Drug & Alcohol Policy

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, climb, lift, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds

Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions

Frequent standing, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling

Frequent overhead work

Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding for extended periods

Visual and auditory acuity required for active construction environments
