Master Stylist
Overview

General Summary & Scope The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on their hair care needs, and recommends products and services. The Master Stylist delivers professional services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look and supports the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) in service sales, productivity, guest service, and compliance.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, up‑dos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
Meet or exceed sales goal of $1250 average weekly sales and productivity goals for hair services by delivering exceptional guest service and contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink targets.
Perform product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and enhance the guest service experience.
Support the execution of in‑store events, promotions and marketing initiatives that deliver a superior guest experience.
Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits.
Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
Develop guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
Serve all guests, including walk‑in guests, in a timely and efficient manner.
Partner with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total‑store, well‑rounded guest experience.
Collaborate with brand partners to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
Share benefits of the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures according to state guidelines.
Follow established service protocols for consistent guest experience.
Use booking systems to schedule guests for return services and events.
Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
Maintain operational standards for cleanliness in salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and assigned areas.
Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices.
Execute other operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications Education
Cosmetology license.
Experience
Previous relevant work experience is required.
Skills
Proficiency with latest salon techniques and equipment to perform all service categories.
Proficiency in demonstrating, recommending, and selling pro hair care and makeup products.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
Special Position Requirements
Work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
Continuous mobility during shift.
Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift.
Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting during shift.
Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift.
Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
