About the Role HealthFitness is excited to announce an opportunity for a Group Exercise Program Coordinator at our Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC location.
Full-time: 40 hours per week. Facility hours: 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. Schedule: Monday to Friday, shifts typically between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. (Flexibility may be available for candidates interested in early morning shifts.)
In this full-time role, you will bring creativity and leadership to the development and delivery of engaging group exercise programs. You’ll be responsible for the development, planning, coordination, marketing and/or implementation of designated health and fitness programs and events, maximizing participation and engagement. You will manage the program delivery process and teams, ensure all staff are properly trained, monitor quality and report on program outcomes. You may also participate in program delivery and perform other staff responsibilities such as instructing group exercise classes, personal training, conducting fitness tests, exercise prescriptions and orientations, and fitness floor coverage and facility oversight.
Responsibilities
Oversee all programming within designated areas; develop, coordinate, manage, implement, and evaluate health and fitness programs within specified program areas to maximize participation, outcomes, and customer satisfaction. Supervise programs, services, and staff.
Ensure staff is properly trained and certified.
Facilitate the close alignment of programs with the client’s business needs, employee culture and corporate health strategies.
Coordinate marketing of programs to maximize outreach and engagement; develop and distribute electronic and print promotional materials to communicate program offerings and special events.
Gather program outcomes data and measure results; evaluate and report on program effectiveness in meeting objectives and make recommendations for future program enhancements or modifications.
Research health and fitness educational topics within their specified areas and identify appropriate participant educational materials.
Participate in business planning and budgeting process relating to program and service offerings in their area of expertise.
Provide individual and group exercise instruction as applicable; educate participants on proper techniques to maximize exercise safety and effectiveness.
Other duties as needed/assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s Degree or higher in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Kinesiology or related discipline and 1+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.
Current Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certifications from American Heart Association, American Red Cross, National Safety Institute, or American Safety & Health Institute required by start date. Certification must have an in-person component and not be 100% online.
Industry recognized Group Exercise Instructor certification from ACE, AFAA/NASM, ACSM, NCCPT or NETA required by start date.
Demonstrated experience in leading, coordinating and delivering effective programs including budgeting, marketing, and promotions.
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including at least Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
Stand out if you have or are interested in obtaining an NCCA-Accredited and HealthFitness approved Personal Trainer certification (not required).
Compensation: $21–$23 per hour. Pay is dependent on experience and qualifications. Additional commission opportunities for someone with an industry recognized and HealthFitness approved Personal Trainer certification.
