We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled co‑op student to support our department in a variety of administrative and analytical tasks. This role will assist the Audit Results Analyst (ARA) with completing change notice documentation audits to ensure consistent presentation and compliance with established standards. The ideal candidate will enhance and maintain computer applications, spreadsheets, and databases to standardize information and generate departmental metric reports. Responsibilities also include monitoring and reporting performance against key metrics, as well as providing administrative support to the supervisor as needed. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to process improvement and data integrity within a dynamic team environment.
Student Program The objective of the Student Programs at Nexteer Automotive is to select students with high potential and provide them with "real world" work experiences. Work assignments expose students to many of the company’s products, processes, and procedures. Assignments are designed to assimilate acquired classroom education with actual hands‑on work experience in a technical environment. In addition, Nexteer Automotive gains the opportunity to find new talent to enhance productivity while providing students exposure to full‑time career opportunities.
Job Description The Co‑op Student assigned to the Operations Department provides clerical, administrative, and project support to the Production Supervisor team. This role assists with organizing production information, maintaining records, and completing day‑to‑day tasks that help supervisors focus on achieving established goals for quality, cost, delivery, safety, and morale.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Assist Production Supervisors with monitoring, recording, and organizing daily production data such as production output, scrap, first runs, and overtime hours
Support the maintenance of time and attendance records within UKG or other internal systems
Help create and update cross‑training plans, training matrices, and employee training records
Prepare basic reports and spreadsheets for supervisors related to production performance and departmental metrics
Organize and file documentation required for compliance with internal procedures and the collective bargaining agreement
Assist with preparation of presentations or communication materials using Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Help coordinate information between shifts and departments (Maintenance, Engineering, Tooling, and Production Control) as directed by supervision
Participate in 5S activities by helping track audits, update checklists, and maintain visual management boards
Provide inventory clerical support to help ensure shipping and delivery requirements are met
Perform data entry and administrative trouble‑shooting for quality or safety tracking systems
Complete special assignments and projects as requested by Operations leadership
Required Skills
Basic understanding or interest in manufacturing environments
Intermediate computer skills with applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internal reporting tools
Strong organizational and administrative abilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive information professionally and maintain confidentiality
Detail‑oriented with ability to work accurately in a fast‑paced setting
Requirements
Candidate must be attending a 2‑year college or 4‑year university local to Saginaw
Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Human Resources
Candidate must be able to work 20‑32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
Up to 40 in the summer
Must have cumulative 3.0 GPA on 4.0 scale
Must be a full‑time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
